Design study of the bridge (including structural study) in collaboration with architectural practice SumProject.
The bridge is a suspension bridge. The project's particularity lies in its complex plan geometry. The bridge describes an S in plan: this geometry resolves the accessibility to the bridge from both banks. The maximum slope of the deck is 5%. The bridge's length is 203m with a central span of 86m. The deck's width is 3.2m and consists of a steel hollow section of 1m high.
The spatial shape of the cable follows the catenary of forces that is determined by in-house developed software. The control of the vibration problems in such a project is one of the main issues. A calculation with forced response to harmonic loads has demonstrated that the user comfort level was sufficient without any dampers. Those results have been strengthen through measurement on the achieved bridge.
