Concept

In 2017, artist Koen Vanmechelen moved his studio and his foundation headquarters to LABIOMISTA, a site located in a former public zoo in Genk. The domain of 24 hectares consists out of a villa, a park and a studio. The building, designed by Van Belle and Medina Architects is given a central place in LABIOMISTA’S park. It will host a veterinary practice and a multifunctional space.

Specific features

The pavilion consists of various concrete, curved walls and arches in view that support the flat roof plate. The walls are supported by a foundation slab on the ground.
